Day 001 // 20230101 // Journey Through the Bible

How is our interpretation of the creation story in Genesis 1 deepened when we consider its ancient historical and cultural context? In this Bible commentary video, we look at how the literary design of Genesis 1 reveals God’s ideal vision for the whole cosmos.

Welcome to your new Bible reading plan! Reading the Bible is a great place to start if you want to grow in your faith and deepen your relationship with God. However, it can be intimidating if you are new to reading the Bible. Don’t worry, though – plenty of resources and tools are available to help you get started, including the SOAP Bible study method.

The SOAP Method:

  • S: Select a passage of scripture to study. It’s helpful to choose a passage that speaks to you in some way or that you are interested in.
  • O: Observe the passage. Read it carefully and make note of any words, phrases, or ideas that stand out to you. Ask yourself questions about the context of the passage and its meaning.
  • A: Apply the passage to your life. Think about how the teachings in the passage can be applied to your own experiences and challenges. Consider what changes or adjustments you might need to make in light of what you have learned.
  • P: Pray about the passage. Take some time to reflect on what you have learned and ask God to help you understand and apply it to your life.

By following these steps, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and how its teachings can impact your life. If you haven’t yet downloaded the Bible App, you can do so right here. Click this link to begin the One Story that Leads to Jesus Bible reading plan. Our Compass staff, including Pastors Brian and Matt, will also engage with these posts and leave comments. Feel free to join the conversation and share what you are learning with the rest of our Compass community.

I am always struck by something different when I read through scripture. Today, I think that the thing that stuck out the most to me was God’s example of rest on the seventh day. God is almighty and doesn’t need to rest, but he set the example for us… which I don’t always follow. I am going to make sure I do better this year following God’s example of what rest looks like!

It strikes me again that God called His creation of human beings VERY GOOD! As the climax of His creation and special stewards of it all, we get to partner with God to accomplish His purposes! And, even though we live in a broken and fallen world, we are still called to partner with Him to bring light and life! May we do that better than ever in 2023!

I have always wondered what earth looked like at the beginning, unspoiled and unbroken . How beautiful it must have been.
Have a Blessed 2023. Unfortunately, I am recovering from my 4th bout of Covid. Yes, I have been vaccinated and boostered , my immune system must be asleep.

I loved that God filled the sun and moon with His own light; as I look out into the sky now it makes me smile to think I am seeing the beautiful light of God shining on the world.

In Psalm 1 it says we are to “delight” in God’s law. Delight and law are not words I typically connect. This made me examine the things I take delight in… family moments, food…
To delight in God’s law means to bend toward God’s Word. I need to reposition my “bend” to lean into Scripture and all the Lord has placed before me to learn and grow in Him.

I downloaded the Bible Project when I first heard about it a few years ago. The videos are so well done and gives you insights beyond normal reading. This first video shows that he is a God of order and His perfect creation gives me more confidence that when I turn to Him in prayer, his direction can be trusted fully because of His amazing wisdom as seen in His beautiful and wonderful creation.

There are times its hard to think the creator of the universe would call us Very Good, it can be easy to fall into the wrong thinking with all the trouble in the world, but its very refreshing to see how strong Gods love for us truly is and has been since the beginning, Genesis is reminding me of that, and its an honor and humbling that God trusts us with so much and has created a way for us to actually be able to approach him and have fellowship and companion ship with him! Thats Awesome Love and I pray more people find that in 2023 and we continue to share this Amazing rescue story,, even if were not accepted when attempting to share it with others who may not be in Christ as of yet

1 Corinthians 14:33 for God is not a god of disorder but of peace as in all the meaning of God’s holy people I believe living in order helps us to be in line with God cuz he’s the god of order we cannot live life in chaos we’re not fruitful when that happens or it is important to the Lord

Why is only Day One posted on the CCC app? I thought we were doing this study together ? It is no where to be found on the church’s app.
