DAY 013 // 20230113 // JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

The Bible is meant to be enjoyed over a lifetime of reading and meditation. The Bible is designed as a multi-layered work, offering new levels of insight as you re-read it and allowing each part to help you understand every other part.

Bible Summary

In Genesis 41, we see the story of Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, who has two troubling dreams that he cannot interpret. His advisors suggested he seek out the help of Joseph, a prisoner in Pharaoh’s palace known for his ability to interpret dreams.

Joseph is brought before Pharaoh and can accurately interpret the dreams, predicting a seven-year famine in the land. Pharaoh is so impressed by Joseph’s wisdom and insight that he appoints him as the second in command of all of Egypt.

With Joseph’s guidance, Pharaoh prepares for the coming famine by stockpiling food during the years of plenty. When the famine does come, Egypt is spared and becomes a place of abundance, thanks to Joseph’s foresight and leadership.

In Genesis 42, we see the story of Joseph’s brothers, who have no idea that the influential leader they are seeking help from is their brother. They come to Egypt to buy food during the famine and are shocked when Joseph recognizes them and accuses them of being spies.

Despite their protests of innocence, Joseph holds them captive and sends them back home to retrieve their younger brother, Benjamin. When they return with Benjamin, Joseph reveals his true identity and forgives them for their wrongdoings.

I think the dream part of the story of Joseph is so interesting. I wonder if God still speaks to us in dreams?

It reminds me that God still speaks to us today. Pharaoh paid attention to the dream and sought to understand it. I pray that I seek to pay attention and understand when God is speaking to me!

There have been many events in my life where I didn’t understand the why’s, what’s and when’s until later on. Like with Joseph, he had to endure so much before God lifted him out of prison and used him in an amazing way. All along he remained faithful to God as God was preparing his character. We might not understand what God is doing behind the scenes but if we trust him, He will always lead us down the right path even though it might hurt or be uncomfortable at the the time. God always has a reason and a purpose, we just need to have faith.
