video reflection
An important part of reading biblical narratives is learning how to understand the nature of “the plot,” how stories are arranged into a pattern of conflict and resolution. In this video we’ll see how ignoring the sequence of the plot can lead to distorted interpretation of biblical stories. We’ll also explore how grasping the multi-layered nature of the narrative can help you see the unified story that leads to Jesus. We’ve placed the video here in the reading plan to help you see the life of Gideon more accurately.

One Response
The video today was a really good reminder of context and looking at everything surrounding the passage when pulling meaning. I was a Sunday school kid growing up and was always taught that Gideon was a hero and that his story was a good example of testing God. This video really helps put everything in perspective and shows that Gideon may not have been the brave leader that I grew up thinking about.
