God loves us so much that even though we’re separated from Him by our sin, He still chooses to show us grace.
OUR RESPONSE
ADMIT that I have sin in my life that has separated
me from God. He and He alone can save me.
BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died to pay for my sins.
CONFESS that Jesus is Lord of my life and forgiver of my sins.
DECIDE to fully surrender to Jesus by being baptized which symbolizes His death, burial and resurrection.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Do you have more questions about baptism? Check out the FAQs section below!
• Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It’s a public declaration of how Jesus is changing your life (1 Peter 3:21).
• Being baptized shows that you’ve decided to follow Jesus as your leader and forgiver and allows others to celebrate this decision with you (Acts 16:31-34).
• Baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It symbolizes the death of your old self and your spiritual resurrection (Romans 6:1-4).
• The power that brought Jesus back to life is the same power Jesus uses to change our lives – and that’s worth getting excited about (Romans 8:11).
As soon as you made the decision! We are available to do baptisms on Sundays after the services and Monday – Thursday 8 am – 5 pm unless our office is closed. You can get baptized the same day or schedule it so your family and friends can be present for your baptism. Select the date on the registration form.
Yes! If each family member is ready to make a personal decision to follow Jesus, your family can do it together. Kids of grades 1st – 6th grade must attend a Kids baptism class to be baptized. Students of grades 7th- 12th must have a conversation with one of the YTH pastors/adult leaders to be baptized.
We do baptisms through immersion. Every baptism in the New Testament was by immersion. The word “baptize” means to “be submerged.” This method of baptism best symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Being submerged under water represents our death to sin and old way of life, and being raised out of the water is a picture of how Jesus raised us and gave us a fresh start in life (Romans 6:3-5).
• If you haven’t been baptized by immersion since you decided to follow Jesus, we want to help you take your next step in doing so. Once you’ve taken that step though, there’s no need to be baptized again. The work God does in baptism sticks.
• Even if you fell away from God for a while, the fact that you’re back is a testament to the work that God did in your life and in your baptism.
Baptism is an expression of your personal decision to surrender your heart to Jesus for the rest of your life. If you were baptized as a baby, your parents made that decision for you, and it was a meaningful experience for them. Choosing to be baptized now is your way of affirming that hope and taking this step of faith for yourself.
We host a Family Dedication event as a beautiful celebration of lifelong commitment of parents to raise their child(ren) with godly principles. Check with the Kids ministry teams to find out about the Family Dedication dates.
No problem! We will do our very best to work out the logistics of baptism for any person who is ready to be baptized.
Any baptized believer in Jesus Christ can baptize someone. A Compass staff member would be happy to help if you’d like! You can inform us who that person is when you register for baptism.
Compass is happy to provide you with towels, shorts, and a special t-shirt for your baptism. If you prefer to be baptized in your own clothes, we suggest dark-colored clothes that will look appropriate when they are wet.
Visit the Baptisms cart in the worship center lobby to fill out the registration form, check-in with the baptism team and get ready for your baptism. You can also fill out the online registration form. The baptisms will be done in the outdoor baptistery which has heated water all year round.
We have put together a baptism guide booklet that can answer any further questions you may have. Download it here.
You can also call our church office at 480-963-3997 during office hours and one of our staff members will answer your questions.
