Day 005 // 20230105 // Journey Through the Bible

The Bible’s main way of talking about God’s relationship to humanity is the image of a partnership. This video traces the way God entered into a series of formal relationships with various human partners in order to rescue the world through Jesus, the ultimate covenant partner.

Welcome to your new Bible reading plan! Reading the Bible is a great place to start if you want to grow in your faith and deepen your relationship with God. However, it can be intimidating if you are new to reading the Bible. Don’t worry, though – plenty of resources and tools are available to help you get started, including the SOAP Bible study method.

The SOAP Method:

  • S: Select a passage of scripture to study. It’s helpful to choose a passage that speaks to you in some way or that you are interested in.
  • O: Observe the passage. Read it carefully and make note of any words, phrases, or ideas that stand out to you. Ask yourself questions about the context of the passage and its meaning.
  • A: Apply the passage to your life. Think about how the teachings in the passage can be applied to your own experiences and challenges. Consider what changes or adjustments you might need to make in light of what you have learned.
  • P: Pray about the passage. Take some time to reflect on what you have learned and ask God to help you understand and apply it to your life.

By following these steps, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Bible and how its teachings can impact your life. If you haven’t yet downloaded the Bible App, you can do so right here. Feel free to join the conversation and share what you are learning with the rest of our Compass community.

“God is promising to be faithful even though he knows humans won’t be.” Wow. Can I get an amen to God’s love and faithfulness being amazing!?

Psalms 5:4 “You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. 5 The arrogant can not stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong .6 You destroy those who tell lies, bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors. 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house”
When I think of how I am a sinner and can struggle with the things mentioned, it is only by God’s great mercy, and forgiveness that I can approach Him and can enter into His house, humbling indeed.

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬ ❤️ I loved reading this verse today; to know that because of Jesus we are loved and protected forever.
