Today, our reading comes from Exodus 13-15 as the Israelites appear trapped, and God makes a way through the dramatic parting of the Red Sea. This reading reminds us that God provides a way through even the hardest situations.

I think it’s interesting that they give the scientific reason (wind from the East) for the parting of the Red Sea instead of just saying “it happened”. It feels like it’s more of a historical story than a bedtime story with specific details like that.
It’s also interesting to think that, between the killing of every first born Egyptian (that doesn’t just mean baby) and the Red Sea, the Egyptian infrastructure would have been in such disarray that they didn’t have the manpower to continue to chase the Israelites through the desert. God had a plan!
