By Compass Christian Church
In his concluding message, “Don’t Give Up,” Pastor Brian emphasized the importance of persistence in prayer. When we cultivate persistent prayer in our lives, we can reap amazing benefits. Let’s review the main points of his message.
Persistent Praying Provides Peace
In Philippians 4:6-7, the apostle Paul writes about a peace that transcends all understanding. This means it is a peace that isn’t natural – it’s supernatural. This isn’t a peace that we can get anywhere other than from God. It’s not a peace we can manufacture on our own; but, by praying and casting our anxieties on the Lord, He can provide it.
Persistent Praying Produces Patience and Perseverance
Pastor Brian said, “Waiting is part of the process of becoming what God wants us to be.” Ultimately, God wants us to be more like Jesus (see Romans 8:29). Growth is rarely easy, but it is always worth it. Persisting in prayer doesn’t just change things, it changes us.
Persistent Prayer Prevents Pride
It’s easy to be self-reliant rather than God-reliant. The dollar bill may still say, “In God We Trust,” but it’s far too easy to trust in the dollar itself, or the job that provides the dollar, or the health that enables us to do the job that provides the dollar, etc. Persisting in prayer reminds us that we always need God, no matter the circumstances.
Takeaway
Persisting in prayer is an ongoing process. It can provide peace, it can change your heart, and it protects you from dangerous, self-reliant pride. Although we’ve come to the end of our “Teach Us To Pray” blog posts, we hope that you have decided to begin or maintain a lifelong pattern of prayer. Don’t give up! And enjoy the journey…

Thank you for doing this blog AND for the renewed emphasis on prayer. May the Lord bring much fruit from our obedience to God and our privilege of having a deep, rich and intimate relationship with Him!
Thank you for all the prayer lessons, may God continue to bless Compass, all it’s Pastors and all it’s staff.
With Jesus’ love.

I’ve taught my family, that in times of difficulty, to pray for the “open door”. When the world seems to be closing in on us, God gives us a way out, the “open door”. This may not be the path we thought we were on, but it’s the right path. The one that God chose for us.
Thank you. I have learned a bit and enjoyed it. Praying for you all.
Thank you for this blog. It has been very meaningful to me and has made understand that praying persistently will allow you to invite God in your heart and you turn over issues that you have in your life to God, but sometimes you need to be patient and wait. God always hears you and he is always there for you.
Thank you for this blog. I really learned a lot from our Pastors.
I thank Compass Church for building and equipping the church to be more in prayer. We seem like we must go over what God’s word says because eventually we will live out what to read as long as we keep our faith and eyes on Jesus
