DAY 031 // 20230131 // JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

What does it mean to say that God is slow to anger? In the Bible, God’s anger is a just response to human evil, which is motivated by God’s justice and love. In this video, we’ll explore God’s anger and justice in the biblical story and see how it all leads to Jesus.

Bible Summary

Today our reading comes from Leviticus 5-7 as God continues His instructions about the types of offerings that are to be made to Him on behalf of His people. These readings give us a preview of what the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus will look like..

This is mostly a continuation of sacrifices that we have been reading about, but I thought the specificity of Priest rules and roles was fascinating. I feel like I would have been both honored and terrified to have a role like this. Representing so many people to God in such reverent ways feels like it would be a lot!

All these detailed instructions feel a bit overwhelming. I feel like I would be at the temple daily atoning for something and never get anything else done. It really makes me appreciate Jesus’ sacrifice, once and for all, and that I can simply come to God daily through prayer. I believe this is part of God’s design for these sacrifices; to help magnify why Jesus’ sacrifice was so radical and such an amazing gift to us.
